In my last article I told you about some characteristics of a good domain name, as I am writing my posts sequentially so I think that my readers have decided a domain name and are on the go to buy it. But wait! Read this article first, here I am going to give you some tips and will tell you some important tasks to perform before you buy a domain name. Lets start :
Do not allow your hosting company to hold your domain
Do not ever buy the domain from where you are buying the hosting. This is because if you ever get conflict with the hosting provider you change your hosting easily without any problem.
Domain registrar
Before buying a domain name, make sure you buy it from a good registrar. I recommend NameCheap because it :
- Provides cheap domains as compared to other registrars
- Provides free WhoIs protection
- Provides free E-mail/URL Forwarding
- Provides live chat
- Offers you to earn money through their affiliate program

Check your domain with WayBack Machine
WayBack Machine is an archive that contains over 100 terabytes and 10 billion web pages archived from 1996 to the present. They keep all the record of the domains. Go to Web Archive and type your URL and hit enter. If it says 0 results found that your domain is all new, you do not have to worry if its banned by Adsense or search engines. Just go and register your domain but if it shows some results in past then you need to follow the point written below.
Check if your domain is ban from Adsense or not
Before buying a domain name make sure it is not ban by Adsense. To check it, simply visit Google Adsense Sandbox Preview Tool and type your domain name with extension and click on Show Google Ads. If the page shows up the Google Ads then its not ban by Google but if it shows up a blank then the domain is penalized by Google Adsense. Have a look

- Type your domain name with extension
- Click on Submit
- If ads appear, domain is fine but if ads does not appear domain is likely to be banned.
Trademark
Before buying a domain name, make sure it does not include any tradmark name like WordPress, Facebook etc, if it has change the domain name as your domain will be down soon. It happened to one of my friend Gaurav, his domain Facebookplus.org was banned and he changed the name to FbPlus.org. So beware!
At last
If you’ve performed all the tasks and found your domain name fine then you can buy it otherwise you need to change it.
