In the blog traffic series today I’ll be going to tell how you can drive traffic to your blog by giving life to your old dead posts. By dead posts I mean, those articles that are not getting any traffic by any means. I’ll tell you how to get traffic to them and how to improve those posts. Lets start :
How to identify dead posts
There are few methods with which you can select a dead post. Make a list of 10 posts :
- That you think are not nicely written and needs more content to it : If any of your post lacks depth or needs extra content, you can consider it as dead post and work on making it alive again.
- That you think the information you gave in your post is outdated : If the information given in your article is outdated or the links given it are not working, you may consider it as a dead post.
- That you think contains any false information : If the information in your post you think is incorrect then treat that post as a dead post and work to make it alive.
- That is not properly formatted : If your post lacks proper formatting like screenshots, bullets, bold, italic etc.
How to give life to dead posts
I believe that now you’ve collected as least 10 posts that you consider as dead and below are tips that will help you to drive traffic through them. Lets start :
Title : The most important factor to make any post dead is its title. Have a look at these titles and you will come to know the difference,
Dead post title : Wow! Firefox is so fast
New post title : Tips to make Firefox fast
Analyze the two post titles above and you will come to know how major role the post title plays in terms of SEO. You can make your article make alive by changing the post title.
Description : After title, your description plays a vital role in bringing traffic. So, write a relevant description.
Content depth : Give few minutes to add more content to your dead posts. You can take help from other blogs to take your article to next step.
Social Networking Websites : Share your articles on Twitter & Facebook, so make your articles go green.
Interlinking : Beneath each popular post of your blog, give link to your dead articles so that it can also drive traffic. Read more about interlinking.
Make a list post : Make a list of recently updated dead posts and publish it again on your blog, so that your readers come to know about it, its also a good way to give your old posts an exposure.
