How Will These 50 Bloggers Advertise Their Blog Using $1000

by Gagan on July 25, 2010

In 50 bloggers opinion, today I’ve a very informative article to share. I sent an email to my 50 fellow bloggers and asked them “If I give you 1000 USD, how will you spend it to advertise your blog. What method you will use to market your blog?”. I got many replies and below are some of my favorites replies that I received, read them and get to know about different ways bloggers use to advertise their blog. Lets start:

Rob from RobWebTips

If I were to be given $1,000 USD to market my blog, I’d probably ask to be sponsored in a live Webinar. This way I know who my exact audience is, there is an active audience who is interested in my niche and assuming it would be a info-webinar, they would be interested in learning more information so heading over to a related site would be of their best interest.

ShivenduMadhava from TechnoZeast

I will use the money to advertise on Google Adwords as well as sponsor some contest on good blogs which will give good exposure.

Abhishek Deshpande from WhoIsAbhi

$1000 is pretty Big budget to promote a blog, it completely matter in what niche I’m working.

  • Mostly I wrote about Internet marketing, SEO, most of my readers will be Internet Marketers / Bloggers / SEO / SMO peoples (Identifying my Traffic)
  • Will Spend $400 to organize a Contest in blogosphere. Which will include some sponsors, for some cash rewards, gift cards, ADverts and lot more to attract participants for these handsome gifts (will Plan to promote only those gifts, that will help my readers)
  • Will use $200 to promote the Contest. (yes that’s what I call marketing Expense for this contest, another marketing loop under one :P )
  • Rest $400 for new resource release, may be Some WP themes, SMO Application/Tool. (trying to establish Brand in my readers mind.)

Anshul Dixit from BlogspotKnol

If you will be so kind :D , I’ll probably spend it by getting custom t-shirts made with a logo of my blog, and will distribute it for free to my blog followers.

Sushant Risodkar from SmartBloggerz

Well for advertising purpose, I will consider spending most of those $1000 into PPC advertising.

Arun Basil Lal from MillionClues

I would use that money to hire 3 content writers and develop content to post on relevant blogs as Guest Posts.

Debajyoti Das from SnapHow

From the last 1 years of experience…..

  • Promoting and Marketing a Blog would be different for different niches….
  • For niches like make money, blogging, WordPress design. One should spend all the money on promoting a advertising via Hiring Guest Writers, Banner Placements and even Adwords.
  • But for niches like mine where search engine traffic leads to increase in readership… the best way to spend money would be to build links from high authority blogs of same topic. This is to make sure to increase the visibility of my blog in search engine queries in my niche.
  • I know there is lot of talk about writing for readers and not for search engines… but when readership comes from search engines then why not.

Karthikeyan from DigiSecrets

If i get 1000$ for advertising my blog ! i will use 30% on that on Direct Advertisers through BSA or any Advertising agency. 50% will spend for affiliates advertisements . Remaining for keep as it its for safe side.

Pradeep Prabhu from Here4Mobile

Given $1000 I would use it as below,

  • $250 for offline advertising( Website logo stickers for all vehicles of friends & family, small banners to be put up at cyber cafe, ads on local FM channels etc)
  • $150 for conducting some kind of contests on my blog.
  • $200 for PPC campaign on Google Adwords.
  • $50 for advertising on other higher PR blogs.
  • $50 for submitting my blog to paid website directories like yahoo etc.
  • $50 for SEO, WP Theme optimization which indirectly .
  • $50 for advertising on Facebook and other Social networking sites.
  • $50 to tie up with some mobile shops ( As my niche is related to mobile phones) so that they give special offers to here4mobile readers.
  • $150 as a reserve for future advertisements.

Anwar Hussain from LogicClub

I will buy one SEO software, Keyword Analytic, Google Adwords and for backlinks.

George Serradinho from Serradinho

Well, $1000 is a lot of money where I come from. That would be more than some people earn in a month (full time work). I would probably try and spread the money to last a period of a year so that I can sustain some monthly traffic and increase my subscribers/followers.

My options would be:

  • Buy some unique keywords from Google
  • Try and do some link exchanges with PR5 and higher websites (increase exposure)
  • Buy some ad space on BuySellAds
  • Sponsor a contest with a cash price
  • I could always buy a few WordPress premium themes/plugins and offer them as a prize
  • Pay some webmasters on PR5 and higher to review my blog on their site for a fee (sort of a paid review of my blog).
  • The above points are what I would look at and concentrate on and do my best to get the best possible exposure for my blog.

Richie Sajan from TechWithRic

  • Well taking into account that I’ve got a pretty new blog (some 6 months only) I obviously would want it to gain more limelight, I’d spend a larger percentage of the budget on CPM campaigns on networks like Facebook and Adwords.  (about 50% – so lets say $400)
  • The second step would be to do some block ad exchanges on Indian blogs like Labnol, Devils Workshop etc. That would take up some nice some of money for a months campaign. So another 20% gone ($200)
  • Next I would hire a pro designer to give me a good logo and a custom theme, It all matters! and if I could get some idea for a tool (like something useful!) hire a programmer as well. If people come to your site for a tool, they are bound to peek into your site as well. ($350)
  • With the remaining of the money I would like to do some offline advertising, like free-t shirts, stickers, pens and such, Although it would backfire, I’m pretty sure since India is still undergoing a Internet transformation, it would be little successful. ($50)

Raj Agrawal from UpcomingTechs

I would split the funding for several purposes like:

  • Paid reviews (approx. five reviews at high PR websites costing me around $50 each – summing up to $250)
  • Register on paid directories ( at least on ten PR 10 directories costing appx $30 each – summing up to $300)
  • Get a new blog design ( will get the best deal within $80)
  • The rest i will spend on Google Adwords

Arun Pattnaik from ArunPattnaik.com

Facebook facebook facebook! I won’t spend a single penny outside of Facebook advertising. It works much better for me compared to Adwords.

Chirag from Squamble

  • First I would develop some product or service to be offered. Then would prefer for direct advertising on various blogs relating to my niche which could get me good target audience.
  • Secondly I would develop widgets which could help readers and other bloggers as well which can give me some more goodwill! :)

This is how I would go for promoting my blog in $1000

Bilal Ahmad from TechMaish

I will use these $1000 for article marketing. I will post articles on popular blogs that are related to my blog.

Harshad from TechExclusive

  • I won’t spend 1000 USD on advertising entirely. However, I would
concentrate more on other promotional ways. Advertising is good for
exposure of your brand’s name. Since Tech Exclusive has already gained so
much popularity in less time, I don’t feel any need to advertise it.
  • As far as marketing is concerned, I would go with Google AdWords and
    direct advertising methods.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article, if you also want to include your name and your opinion in this article, just write a comment and I’ll include it in this post :)
