If you’ve a site/blog that targets local audience or a particular country and you want that Google should display your site’s search results if users searches Google from a particular geographical place, then here is a simple tutorial for you that will tell Google to target how your site appears in search results and it should only target a particular country that you want. Lets start:

Step 1. Go to Google WebMaster tools and click on the site that you want.

Step 2. Now, in the left hand side sidebar under Site Configuration, click on Settings.

Step 3. In the settings page, put a tick on Target users in and from the drop down menu choose the country in which you want your site should appear in the search results and click on Save.

Result

As you will tell Google to target your site in selected country so it will help you to improve your search results for geographic queries thus increase in traffic.

Do not try this method if..

If you’ve a country-coded domain name like .in etc, then there is no need to tell Google about the country to target because they are already associated with a geographic region, like .in for India etc.

Try this method only if..

  • Your site/blog targets local audience or a particular country and
  • You’ve a top level domain like .com, .org, .net etc.
