Whether you’re new to blogging or a pro blogger, in order to remain consistent towards blogging it is must to set & achieve some goals and work on them to improve your blog, setting goals is like competing with yourself. By setting a list of goals you will be able to concentrate on your work more. In the blog traffic series today I am going to give you list of goals that you can set and work to improve it every month so as to make the most out from your blog.

goals of a blogger

1. Set number of posts

This is the  first goal that will help you to keep a consistent posting frequency. Now, the goal is to set a minimum number of posts that you’ve to write every month and work hard to complete the target. If you lack post ideas, do not worry at all, read this article on top 10 ways to get post ideas.

2. Set number of comments

Commenting can boost up your traffic, so the second goal is to set the number of comments to write on other blogs and also work hard to receive particular number of comments to your own blog. Completing the target every month will help you to get a lot of unique visitors to your blog. Do read my article on 15 Tips on Writing Blog Comments and Getting Noticed

3. Work to improve daily page views

It is recommended to install Google Analytics into your blog so that you can easily know daily page views of your blog. Now, analyze your monthly page views and work hard to improve it every month.

4. Work to improve daily unique visitors

Google Analytics also tells about daily unique visitors on your blog, suppose you get 100 unique visitors in a month, then set the goal to 150, read traffic increasing article and work on them. When you hit 150 target, increase it to 200 and so on.

5. Work to increase RSS subscribers

Another important goal to consider is RSS subscribers. If you’ll work on above mentioned points then your subscribers will automatically increase but there are few methods that you must consider to improve RSS subscribers like :

6. Work to improve Alexa Ranking

The most common way to analyze a website is through its Alexa ranking. Every month, set a rank and work to improve it. You can follow few quick tips below to improve Alexa ranking :

  • Install Alexa toolbar
  • Ask your readers to install Alexa toolbar
  • Keep Alexa widget on your blog

Note : Harsh has written a detailed article on how to increase Alexa Ranking using Sparky

7. Work to increase page rank

It is one of the toughest job I am also facing, it is very hard to get page rank above 5 but you must try hard. So try to gather as much as quality backlinks as you can by writing good content, guest articles etc.

Note : Harsh has written a detailed article on backlink strategies

8. Increase blog network

Use social networking websites like Facebook and try to increase your blog network. In this way, you can easily make your articles go popular on Digg, SU and can get more than 200 tweets. So, interact with your readers and other co-bloggers and increase blog network.

9. Work to improve monthly revenue

Money should be the last priority of a blogger (that is why I wrote this point at the end), and so set a goal and stick to it to hit the target.

Work on the above mentioned goals and you will see a sudden increase in your blog traffic and well as income. I recommend you to write all the goals on a piece of paper and paste it at the top of your desktop table. This will remind you about your goals every time you site on your computer. Good luck!
