Google MythBuster Series is doing great, I try to share some basic information with my readers that is must for every webmaster. Most of the webmasters do not concentrate of basic factors that will help them to rank higher rather they work on other secondary methods. In my today’s article I am going to tell you is there any difference between .com, .net, .org and .info in Google’s view. Lets start:
Google treats all these domain extensions equally
- Yes, you read it right, it is a myth that .com holds much higher value than .net or .org or even .info. Google treats all the domain extensions equally.
- Search engine rankings does not depends upon these four domain extensions. So, do not think that if you buy .com it will help you rank higher. No, to rank higher you’ve to work on other factors. You can read my traffic generating tips and SEO tips for that.
Why does most of the .info domain sites are spam sites
You might have seen that most of the spam sites out there are .info sites, this is because the registration fee of .info domain is too less as compared to other domains, that is why spammers prefer to buy .info domain.
All I want to say is, All domain extensions have equal when it comes to Google rankings.

I think google values on the basic of domain……to some extend….But quality of articles and backlinks is always important for a blog which make difference in SERP
generally we go for a .com domain and all we have craze on it, but its good to hear that all other domain are of same priority as .com. Good info. Thanks
Thats why I choose .info to tell people that All .info domains are not spammers……..

I had been thinking of changing my domain name to .com for a few months, So Should I change it?
Hi Avi, no need to change the domain name. Keep it as dot info. Try working on writing original content and work on basic SEO factors that I share on my blog and you will get positive results.
Gagan, How about .in site. Does it have same value as the ones mentioend above?
No, country domains like .in, .jp, co.uk etc are totally different from .com, .org etc and have less value.
