by Gagan on May 6, 2010

I’ve a blog on Blogging, so its better for me to limit my blog categories and write only on them. To make this possible I recently decided to work on Blog Content Planning. What’s is this ? I’ll explain you in detail.

In my last article I told you about how a blogger should spend his/her weekend. it is a known fact that to get a huge traffic to your blog you must post regularly but to get consistent blog traffic you must work on Blog Content Planning. I define blog content planning as blogging about specific topics on specific days.

Example of BCP

Now, if you’re planning to work on blog content planning, you can choose different topics to write on different days, suppose :

  • Monday will be the Top 10 list post day
  • Tuesday will be Interview day
  • Wednesday will be the How to article post day and so on …

This was an example of content planning. Though you can write on different topics also but writing on defined topic on defined day it must. Why ? Read further.

Importance of Blog Content Planning

  • Doing this, will justify your blog niche
  • Your readers will come to know more about your blogging style
  • You readers will know which topic you write on which day, thus will wait for your articles to go live
  • It will help you to concentrate on your articles more
  • You will never run out of ideas

How to work on blog content planning

It is not at all a difficult task, just think which topics will your readers enjoy reading and are worth helpful. Make a list of those topics and select a day for each topic. Work on the defined pattern for 2-3 weeks and then change the topic.

Follow this content planning system for a month or two and it will surely help you. So, which topics you’ve selected so far ?

:-) At first glance, it would appear this idea cannot work for my niche: daily topical commentary on news and politics. But in fact, I recently started a weekly off-topic feature on Sundays. So I guess I’ve taken my first steps into BCP already.
